Sound Designer
Kristina Morss is an award-winning filmmaker from the Sacramento, CA area. Initially her passions laid within science related fields and NASA but, shortly switched to Animation and Visual Effects before settling on Video Editing and Sound Design. Why can’t you work in all fields? Growing up watching television and movies not fit for her age, she discovered the thrill of watching them and the effects they had on audience members. Watching as many behind-the-scenes videos as she could, she found editing and foley (in old radio shows) interested her the most. She hopes to continue to learn more and more with each new project and to help paint the canvas of a film either through sound design or editing. Essentially, she made the switch from science to science-fiction.
Taking classes in VFX and Animation at The Art Institute-Sacramento then transferring to Sacramento State; she received her B.A. in Communications-Digital Media with honors in 2014. While in school, she helped make award winning films and documentaries and moved on to the world of short-form in the Sacramento and Bay Areas. Presently, she is a freelance video editor and sound designer; making the switch from sound mixer to save her poor back. Some of her films have been screened in festivals around the world including: San Diego Comic Con, San Francisco Transgender Film Festival, Women's Only Entertainment Film Festival, Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, Mundo de Sueños Film Festival, Ukraine Equality Festival, and Sacramento International Film Festival.
As a side project, she started “The Closing Credits Podcast.” A podcast dedicated to educating people on what each job does found in the closing credits of a film through interviews of people in the industry from indie to blockbuster.
She is also a founder member of the For the Love of Cinema: Women of Film group in the Sacramento area.
Currently, she is an Assistant Re-Recording Mixer at Skywalker Sound.
